VIRTUAL PRO-WRESTLING 2 FREEM EDITION 2021/01/28 Version Released! – Posted January 28th, 2021

It's time to celebrate VPW2's 21st anniversary with a new release of VPW2 freem Edition. However, this is a bittersweet release, as I am now going to shift my primary focus to other projects. Don't expect any updates for quite some time.

Feature Freeze; Discord Server Open for Business – Posted January 23rd, 2019

The Discord server for Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 freem Edition is now open to the public.

As of today, the hack is on lockdown/feature freeze, meaning that no more changes will be made until after the preview release on January 28th. The main focus now is on finishing up the Readme, Manual, and Character Guide.

Mid-December Update – Posted December 16th, 2018

December's halfway over... With January (and the first preview release) looming around the corner, it's probably a good time to provide a project progress update. Overall, progress has been good, with a number of wrestlers and costumes being imported.

Wrestlers

As of 2018/12/16, there have been 21 characters imported from other AKI wrestling games. The bulk of these characters are a combination of WrestleMania 2000 and No Mercy data. There are also four ported wrestlers each from Virtual Pro-Wrestling 64 and WCW/nWo Revenge. Five more wrestlers were added to the "Ported from other AKI Games" portion of the roster.

Costumes

Costumes are always troublesome, due to a lack of slots for some items. Despite this, costume-related work is moving forward. Some of the implemented costume items include...

Of course, more costume items have been implemented, but the list would go on forever if I bothered to try listing them all.

Arenas

Four of the arenas have a defined identity, even if they haven't changed much between the original version of the game and this hack. Each arena will have a unique ring mat and skirt design. The AKI Hall screenshots below are already out of date... I want to show off new pictures of the arenas, but I feel the impact will be bigger if you see them for the first time when playing the hack.

Music and Sound

Nothing is really going to change on this front for the preview version. Eventually, I'll get around to importing the Randy Savage "OOH YEAH!" clip from WCW/nWo Revenge. The music is a different story, since there are two types to deal with (streamed and sequenced).

Welcome to the official home page of Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 freem Edition. Earlier this month, BeBetterGamer uploaded a preview video of the hack to YouTube. If you haven't seen it, go check it out. There's also some screenshots below.

While I have no idea when the "final" version of the hack will be finished or released, there will be a preview version released in January 2019. As for the specific day... Think of what date has significance to the history of the Virtual Pro-Wrestling series.
