General Notes

WCW/nWo Revenge is a considerable upgrade from World Tour and VPW64, and forms the basis of the rest of AKI's N64 wrestling game library.

A number of wrestlers were planned to be in the game, based on reports from AKI, as well as gaps in the wrestler ID4 numbering. Ric Flair and the Ultimate Warrior are the only confirmed/known characters who did not find their way into the game.

Wrath is an unfinished wrestler, and can normally only be unlocked using a GameShark code. There are some small problems with some of his moves, and he lacks unique costumes, but he is otherwise playable without issue.

Notable File Types

DoubleTex

As the name may suggest, these files contain data for two AkiTextures, stored back to back. These are only used for the ending/credits sequence.

I wouldn't expect any coherency from wrestler ID4 values in Revenge... AKI themselves best explains the situation:

To crate "REVENGE", most difficult part was the speed of movement in WCW. Every week something always new and changes, It was really hard to catch up what's goin' on. And also when we were developing the "REVENGE", at the same time, dramatically division in "nWo" was happened.
It seams to be calm down a little bit but RavensFlock & Kanyon seams be threaten the peace and order, Steve Lay joined in "White nWo".... because of due to the dead line, we could not recreate many of based-on-true part.

It is important to note that Sting enters from the ceiling during Battle Royal matches, so if you are replacing him, keep that in mind. There is no known way to disable this behavior yet.

WHITE (Sting), RED (Sting), and DRIVER (the truck driver in the WCW/nWo World Tour shirt who yells "what?!") are used during the game's introduction sequence.

ID4 0006 was highly likely meant for Ric Flair. (Coincidentally, Flair's ID4 in WCW vs. nWo World Tour was 0106.) ID4 0402 was possibly meant for Ernest Miller, as the rest of the 0400 range is for other characters in the "Blood Runs Cold" storyline. All other gaps in ID4 numbering are currently unaccounted for, including Warrior.

Profile

Profile data is stored in the ROM. This includes wrestler names, height/weight, and various other items.

VPW Studio does not currently allow you to edit wrestler names, since Revenge stores them in a way that is not easy to work with.

Moves and Parameters are found in the FileTable, but the data formats are not fully understood yet.

Costume colors in Edit Mode are defined in file ID 0A51.

The default values from the NTSC-U version of WCW/nWo Revenge are displayed in the table below. Each table cell contains three values.
The first line represents the hex value of the color as it appears in the palette file.
The second line represents the amount of Red, Green, and Blue in the range 0-31.
The third line represents the amount of Red, Green, and Blue in the range 0-255, as interpreted by VPW Studio (circa pre-Alpha Preview 18). These values are used for the background color of each cell.
